Vineri (Friday) 29/06/2012

Today we welcomed the children and started the morning again with the our daily practice, dancing the logobitombo. Our activity today were the ballgames. In different places the children could play with all kind of balls, for example throwing the ball in rings, bump ball, basketball,… They could practice their skills and we saw actually a progress by some of them.
We went shopping for the lunch and brought also a lot of fruit. We cut apples, bananas, melon and washed grapes. When all the fruit was prepared the children could put the pieces of fruit on a stick and turn it in a crunch of biscuits. The kids were very happy with this delicious and healthy break.
After the break we continued our ballgames and finished our fantastic week with the photoshoot. In the afternoon we had a photo presentation with pictures of the whole week. It was nice to see a view of our week. We finished the summerschool with a goodbye game which includes running, kissing, embrassing and some tears.

In the evening we went to the karaoke bar in the campus. These bars are more popular in Romania than in Belgium. We danced and sang for life!

The time passed very fast this week. We had a great time with these kids.

Joi (Thursday) 28/06/2012

We planned today to go to an art museum with the kids. As usual we started in the morning with our daily dance. After that we learned the children some typical dances like the roman menaito and other famous dances like the macarena, the ketchup song and some belgian typical kidsdances. We had a lot of fun and were delighted by the excitement of all children.
At eleven we took a walk to visit the art museum in the centre of Timisoara. There were different artist like the famous Corneliu Baba. There was also more abstract and modern art which was interesting. It was the first time for the kids and although they didn’t understand well the meaning of it was a great experience for them.
We had our lunch at the centre of Timisoara in the grass and played a little frisbee game. After it we visited another museum with awsome art. Then it became late so we took the tram back to the school. So we finished the day again with our dance.
In the evening we visited a rented house which is used as a pub and was decorated with a lot of antique art pieces. Some of us were surprised by the bathroom which was actually the toilet with a gigantic toy made of sponge. The romanian students brought a traditional drink named palinca… what an experience!

Wednesday, 27.06.2012

On Wednesday, 27.06.2012, we started with natural arts. The children made some handcrafted objects using coconut flakes, corn flour, sunflower seeds, wooden beads, dryed flowers, rice, rye cereals, watercolours, papier-mache, glue, and other natural materials. We also used a red ribbon to arrange the children's hair and they were very excited about it.
The children gave us  their artworks as a sign of friendship and affection.
After this, we went to a park near Bega river ant there we played watergames, for example we laid a plastic sail and we poured water and soap on it. First, we learned them step by step how to use it and how they can find their balance on something slippery: for beggining they learned how to walk on it and after this they had fun sliding on it.
Then, we played football and freesbee so the children can dry a little bit.
Once we returned to school, we ate our lunch and shared impressions about the day.
We ended the day with the children with our dance.
Once they went home, we started our discussion about Europe. It was a short quiz, and it's questions were linked with the discussion points (for example about the expansion of the European Union, about European symbols, the exports and imports between countries, about Euro, about the developement of the biggest contries, about homosexual acceptance, about romanian revolution and about how we see other countries.
It was a good and interesting day. We learned a lot from talking, debating and questioning.

We separate the group in differant stands like baloons, diablo, "coxi boa", juggeling, ... after the circus we took the children to a brandnew Children Park in the center of Timisoara. The children saw the whole park through a little train. In the park they played everything they wanted. At two o clock we gathered the children and we turned back to the school very tired :) . After all the the children went home, we had a Romanian afternoon. The students of Romania made us a short presentation and after that they gave us traditional food called "Mamailga" with beer made in town called "Timisoreana". After that we tried to learn traditional dance.

The day started at 10 o’clock by planning all the activities that we will do during the week. Veronica showed us the room with all the materials we can use and there is a lot of interesting things that we can use. We spent lunch together and after that we went to a local pool party where Thijs won a local swimming contest. His prize was a bottle of kid champagne and he was very happy about that.
